Word Not Remembering Last Location Used

Lynn

When I first started using Word 2000 on my new computer,
this particular function worked great, as follows:

1) I click "Insert Picture", go to the file I want, and
insert the picture, or graphic, or photo.
2) I click "Insert Picture" again, and it would REMEMBER
and automatically go to the location of the last file I
inserted from.

However, all of the sudden, for no apparent reason, it
stopped REMEMBERING, and just goes to the DEFAULT file
location! WHY would this happen, and HOW do I get it to
function the way it used to? This is very frustrating, in
that I now have to go through searching for the file I
want EVERY time I want to insert a picture ... or go
through resetting the default file location every time,
which is ridiculous.

Please HELP!! Thanks so much!

Lynn,

Try the following:
On the Tools menu, click Options
Click the File Locations tab
Select Clipart pictures under File types:
Click Modify to display to Modify Location dialog box
In the Folder name box, highlight the entire file name and path and press
DELETE
Click OK

The result will be that once you insert a picture clicking Picture on the
Insert menu and clicking From File -- Word will remember this location
*during the current session only*.

If you do not delete the path as we did above, no matter what folder you
insert a picture from, the next time *during the current session* you go to
insert a picture from a file it will return to the default directory
specified under Clipart pictures in the File Locations tab.

Don't ask me why!

Jon
