Word Not responding

Shortly after Roadrunner was installed, I had problems
connecting to websites on
the internet and couldn't open MS Word. The technician
there indicated I needed to update my browser. I went to
Windows update and everything work after the update. Now
MS Word is giving me the same problem. The error message
indicates there is not enough resources to open Word and
when I try to close it several popups come up indicating
they need to be closed : explorer is one of them. None of
them are open. I defragged and Reinstalled Word, it didn't
work. I used the restoration disk, it didn't and
reinstalled Word, it
didn't Work. I have Windows 98 on my computer. Is there
something I'm missing? I checked the properties for the C:
drive I have 15GB of memory left and 3.91GB used. Excel
and all other software are functioning properly.

Hi
I don't know if this is related, but my Word use
to 'freeze' or stick often. Word is a power hog. If you
have too many applications open it can 'stick'. A Dell
tech gave me some info on how to get it to open. For me
tonight, this is not working - I'm posing for another
issue and saw yours.
in search type in normal.dot
do you come up with any files? how many of these
normal.dot files and are any improperly closed files?
this happened to me and there's a way to unjam it, but i
wont' go into detail unless you find these.
