Word not responding

I am running Office XP with Front Page and recently Word
started not responding when I try to Save as.. and click
in the Save in window, I get the message (Not
responding). This either lasts for a minute or so or I
need to end task. I have reinstalled the Office and have
switched off Office Plug-in in Norton AntiVirus but it is
still dong the same thing. Could someone please advise me
as to how to overcome this. Thank you in advance. Ike

Thanks Suzanne.

It turned out to be my VPN. If I am not connected to the
remote server Word hangs when trying to save as.. if I am
connected it works OK. I guess I will have to keep the
connection on until I find a better solution. )) Ike

On the Save tab of Tools | Options, try checking the box for "Make local
copy of files stored on network or removable drives" and see if that helps.

And make sure that you have a local printer driver installed - preferably
the same driver as the networked printer - though any driver is better than
none.

I am having the same problem after reinstalling Office XP,
detect & repair etc. What can I do?
