Word only opens in safe mode

I have office 2003 xp pro with front page running on an xp pro64 system. All
of the sudden, when opening word, I get a message saying word wasn't properly
shut down last time. Would you like to open in safe mode? When I select no,
it won't open. So my question is, once word is opened in safe mode, is there
a way to change to normal mode. Or is there another way around this? I did 2
system restores going back long befor the problem started and still getting
the same message.

Followup;
When searching this forum I see the same problem has been shared by others
but the posts are so old the links to the fixes are dead. Any advice?
