Word opens and closes very slowly

Wordc used to open and close in a few seconds, but
lately, it takes up to 20 seconds. Something is wrong.
Any advice?

Larry, my copy of word in the office 2000 suite does the

same thing and for about the same amount of time. Has
anybody given you solution to the problem?? Thanks John C
