Word printing - paper source

S

Slam

Two PCs, a common document and a common (share printer).
If I open the document on one XP Pro PC, running Word 2007, paper source
shows as auto. This is what is wanted.
If I open the document on the other XP Pro PC, running Word 2003, paper
source shows as Tray 1 (manual), meaning the source has to be changed before
printing.

The printer is set up on a (third) PC and shared. I have checked the
printer settings on both PCs and cannot see any difference.

How can I force the second PC to open the document with paper source set to
auto, please?

Thanks

The printer driver for your errant printer on the second PC is set
incorrectly in all probability.

Click Control Panel, Printers and right click on the printer in question on
the second PC and then properties, Printing Preferences (or some such menu
item.) Check the settings for the default paper source there under the
various headings. Without knowing the exact printer model and driver being
used that is as far as I can help. If it was a printer and driver I was
familiar with then I could give specific information.

On my HP PCL 5 driver it is under the Paper/Quality where the Paper source
is set. On my Oki color laser it is set on the Setup tab. On my Epson 1280
it is on the Paper tab but on my Epson R260 it is on the Main tab.
