Word problem

I was using Word one day, and the assistant came on and did something that I
can't reverse. Everytime I type, the screen shows dots for every space and
paragraph symbols everytime I begin a new paragraph. I've looked, but I have
no idea how to get things back to normal. Can anyone please tell me?

On the Standard Toolbar--the top of the two Toolbars, you should see the
Paragraph Symbol. Click on it once.
Or, press Ctrl+Shift+8 (you can call it Ctrl+*, if you prefer).
