word program crashed

help! word 2000 sr-1 crashed, wont open, get error
message & automatic link to microsoft crash analysis
website. have tried all suggestions on site, without
success, have removed then added the program, have
restored computer to earlier date of operation, have
defragmented, no luck with any of the above. any
suggestions will be appreciated. please respond in very
basic terminology
