Word Safe Mode

Hello,

I have a customer running Windows 98 with Office XP.
When he tries to launch Word, he gets an error about the
program having to start in safe mode. Does anyone know of
a solution short of reinstalling Windows? Yesterday, I
uninstalled Office and reinstalled it but got the same
problems. Thank you.

I was having this problem but when I saw the message from Terry Farrell regarding corruption of the normal.dot file I deleted mine and now my program is working fine
