word screen freezes upon opening

Office Professional 2000. Everything works except Word. The loading screen
where it shows my name and business freezes. I typed the winword.exe /a in
the run box and it will come on then. Also changed the name of my normal.dot
file. Changed the name of the registry and still not working. I take college
classes and have to have my papers in word so this is important for me to get
fixed. I even unloaded it from my PC and reinstalled it from the disk. Still
didn't work. Thanks, Teresa
