Word should allow me to set picture import defaults

I am importing a lot of pictures into Word and have to individually set the
picture size to 9" wide and change each picture to grayscale. It would be
invaluable for Word to allow me to:

1) change the picture import defaults to the size I want and grayscale so
that I don't have to do it for each picture

and

2) allow me to import more than one picture at a time.

Hi Girl,

For your 2nd request you can insert multiple graphics
at one time using Insert=>Picture=>From file by holding down
the ctrl key while you select each one.

If you're printing to a non-color printer, or setting
a color printer to use gray scale then the grey scaling
should be something the print engine does for you automatically
but you can also do multiple changes from within Word now.

If the graphics are formatted as other than 'inline with text'
add the Word 'select multiple objects' command to your drawing
toolbar from Tools=>Customize=>Commands=>Drawing
When you 'select all' you can apply the grey scale from the
picture toolbar with one click.

If the pictures are formatted with Inline with text layout
you can use the 'silver ball' on the vertical scroll bar,
and from the top of the document select 'browse by graphic'.
Use shift+right cursor arrow to select the graphic, then click on the
blue double arrows below the silver ball on the vertical scroll
bar to jump to the next graphic, then shift+right cursor arrow
and hit F4 to greyscale the next graphic.

For the sizing, if the graphic contains a specific pixel per
inch value stored in the graphic then Word honors that, it not
then it uses the setting in Tools=>Options=>General=>Web Options
(i.e. pictures do not have a size in inches predetermined in
many cases).

If you're using a 'shrink to fit' from bigger pictures you
can insert your pictures into Word table cells (with autoresize
turned off), into an autoshape or into a Word-frame that you've
presized. If you use the same size repeatedly you can store
this 'container' as a Word autotext entry.
