Word should allow ribbon items to expand in frame

Word 2007
for example, suppose i want to toggle between two font colors, if the ribbon
item expanded downward (i.e. i could keep the ribbon large) over the text i
could pick out the new color without searching into the ribbon. for more
detailed stuff, like formatting a document for color, font, etc, an expanded
ribbon item would act like a palette.

Hi,

The functionality that you are requesting already exists in Word 2007. To
switch the text color, on the Home tab, in the Font group, click the arrow
next to the text-color icon (the A with the colored underline). This opens
the font color palette. Select a color and type text with the new color. When
you want to return to the default font color, press Ctrl+Spacebar. When you
want to use another color, open the palette again and select it.

For more complex font formatting (for example, color, font name, and font
size), create new character styles. After you have created your own character
styles, the easiest way to apply them is to press Ctrl+Shift+S to open the
Apply Styles task pane. Then start typing the name of the style that you want
to use until its complete name appears or select it from the drop-down list,
and press Enter. When you want to return to the default character style,
press Ctrl+Spacebar. When you want to use another character style, press
Ctrl+Shift+S to move the focus to the Apply Styles task pane, start typing
its name until the complete name appears or select it from the drop-down
list, and press Enter.

Please write back if you don't agree that these are the Ribbon expansions
that you are seeking.
