Word Shows side Panel ???

P

Puzzled

When I open Word 2003 New Document there is now a panel on
the left side which appears to show a preview of my
document. I can't figure out how to get rid of it.
Please help. Thank you

Ye gods! That's a new one on me. I've just tested it and can see that it
could be really useful. Why has no one told me about this before? <g>

Gasp! You mean when you install a new version of Word you don't open
every menu, click on every command, open every dialog box and view
Help on each option you don't recognize, and research all of the new
Word Commands? <Big Grin>

Joking aside I have found it quite useful. :)

There are several long documents I work on and I found I can recognize
a page I'm searching for by sight in the Thumbnail view. Sure beats
scrolling and reading the content!

<sheepish grin> I confess that, despite my encouragement to "new users" to
explore menus and dialogs, I migrated from Word 2002 to 2003 so seamlessly
that I have been somewhat remiss in investigating new features. I suspect
this is not unusual; it's only when you're faced with an entirely new
paradigm (as I was in upgrading from Word 97 to 2002) and have to learn the
app all over again that you discover the new features.
