Word shutdown by his self when working in offline mode

Hi, I would like to know if someone had this problem, I just re-image a pc
with brand new image. Windows 2000 SP4 and Office 2003. When outlook is in
Online mode, it works fine but when it comes the time to close vpn and works
Offline, Microsoft word is shutting down by his self. As you probably know,
Outlook is using word as the default text editor for the new messages. So I
can't write an email and I can't write word document when i'm in offline
mode. Anyone have suggestions?

P.S. All the possible updates has been made
