About a week ago my MS Word 2002 slowed down to molasses
pace. Whenever I switch among the 4-5 documents I
normally have open, or switch back to Word from another
application, I get a 4-5 second--and sometimes longer--
delay before anything happens. I get the hourglass. When
I open a Word document, it takes 5-10 seconds, and even
then it often jumps to another screen--another open Word
document, or another application entirely, rather than
opening my document. Before this started a week ago, I
got instant response when switching between screens.
This occurs only in Word. I typically also have open
Outlook, Excel, a bibliographic program, another database-
-all of them work fine. I have a Pentium 4 and 512MB of
ram, so that shouldn't be the problem, especially since
it ran fine on this computer for a year previously. I
have not recently loaded any new programs.
Any ideas?
Thanks
