word spacing problems

ive noticed as soon as i hit return and type a second line
it automatically creates a wide space between lines....as
i create other lines the spacing becomes smaller and
smaller but still doesnt follow the single spacing layout
ive chosen...how can i correct this?

Hi,

Probably "File > Page setup > Layout":
Change "Vertical Alignment: Justified" to "Top".
