Word spell check doesn't work

spell check no longer works (the 'correct as you type' feature), but only if
you open a new document, or on certain existing docs. on some, it is working
fine. i am also using word as my email editor for outlook, and spell check
works fine there. tried resetting the options, rebooting...
any ideas?

Try renaming "normal.dot" to "normal.old" and then start Word to have a
new copy created.
