Check under Word>Preferences > Spelling & Grammar, and make sure "check
spelling as you type" is turned on.
If that doesn't fix it, with the cursor in a misspelled word, go to Tools |
Language, and make sure "(no proofing)" doesn't come up highlighted. The
text must have a language assigned to check spelling.
