word starts in read layout when opened from outlook shortcut

Everytime I open an attachment from Outlook 2003 to Word 2003 it opens
the document in Read Layout. It works fine after that but I'm not sure
why it's doing this. I can't seem to find a shortcut that will allow
me to make it start in Normal mode. Its fairly annoying was wondering
if anyone had any ideas?
