Hello,
I've recently reloaded Office 2000 Pro SR-1 onto my new hard drive (along
with everything else!) and, while it worked fine last week when I first
loaded it, now I can't get into Word. (I get an error message that
Winword.exe has generated errors)
While it tells me that an arror message has been created, it doesn't tell me
where to find it and a search of *.err, *.txt or *.log for todays date
doesn't give me anything either.
I've been to the great help at the MVP FAQ site for Word and using
"winword.exe /a" in the run box from the Start menu, I can open Word in what
I guess is a 'safe' type mode. MVP FAQ then tells me to look at changing
each of the files in 'docs & settings......Microsoft.Word.STARTUP but here
is possibly my problem......when I look in the STARTUP cupboard it is
bare!!!! Are there supposed to be files in there? Who took mine and where
could they be hiding?
If this is not the answer to my dreams (ah, sorry, I mean problem...) where
should I look next?
Thanks
Chris Robson
