Word stops responding

Word stops responding very often. I haven't noticed any
special circumstance; I'm using Word 2003, but this error
has been present since XP. Any know workaround will be
appreciated.

This is often because you have Speech and/or handwriting Recognition
active - even though you are nor using it. You need to deactivate it.
