Word stuck on Page 1

In a new Word Document the format seems to be 'stuck' or 'frozen' on page 1. It will not go on to page 2, etc. Have I changed something inadvertently?

Make sure you're not typing in a text box or wrapped table. Failing that,
check Format | Columns and make sure the number of columns is set to 1.
