When using MS Word 2000 under Win98SE it switches to
a "background" mode.
Word is still visible on the screen but the active bar up
the top of the screen has turned grey. This can happen
even in the middle of typing. To regain control of Word
you have to click with the mouse.
Currently I have tried removing all programs at startup
via the msconfig util - no result.
Do full virus scan with up to date data files - no virus.
Check harddrive on another PC - no bad sectors or
corrupted files.
Remove virus scanner from memory - no result
Re-loaded Office 2000 - no result
Run in safe mode - no result
This is also occuring with all other apps within the
Office Suite.
This is actually a customers machine and I am getting
calls daily about the problem.
I have never seen such a problem or even something
remotely similar. It is like ALT TAB is being pressed but
the application is still able to be viewed on the screen.
I have to admit this one has me beaten.
I welcome any help.
Thank you.
