Word takes long time to launch, increasingly

It just seems that it takes longer and longer to start Word. My machine is
a fresh install of everything, defrags and virus sweeps weekly!

Any clues? Aren't there some indexing services that can be shut off?

Oh, it's Word 2002 and Win 2000
