Hello,
All my fax cover sheet document template locations changed to
Hard Disk:Microsoft Office 98:Templates:Operations:Business Fax Cover
This location does not exist.
All other word documents are not affected.
How can the document template location be changed for all the fax cover
sheets documents without doing each one individually?
Word 2004 for Mac Version 11.3.8

Thank you
David

Thank you.
Although I already had the User Template location set. It got me thinking.
Once I changed the Workgroup template to the same location as the user
template it worked. Many Many THANKS.

Now, THAT is GOOD thinking :)

Yes, you can use the two locations to hook in two different templates
locations.

Usually we use the Work Group templates location for Network templates. But
as you have discovered, it's really handy for declaring a second location.

The impact of these two locations is significant for security management
(which is no longer so important in Word 2008). In Word 2004, macros in
templates in the User Template and Workgroup Template locations will be
allowed to run without prompting.

Hope this helps

In our office we have a computer that is used to store files so all six
office personnel can access from their desk top computer.
I assume this would be considered a network?
If so then storing the template for everyone to use in the Work Group
templates location is the correct location?
So if I want everyone to use the new template, I need to change everyone Work
Group templates location to where I have the new template?
Thank you,
David Kramer

Hi David:

Correct on all counts.

Yes, that is exactly what it is intended for.

I would lean over the user's shoulder and make the change while they are
logged on as themselves, so you ensure that you write the preferences back
to the correct user-ID.

You could also use the time to point out that the Template behaviour has
been fixed in Word 2008. If they double-click a template (no matter where
it is...) they will get a new document based on, and attached to, that
template.

This was quite broken in Word X/2004.

Hope this helps
