I use Word 2002 as part of Office XP.
Each time I close Word, I get a prompt to save changes to the normal.dot --
this is even when I am sure that I have done nothing to change the template.
About a week ago, I started getting an error message after pressing Yes on
the changes to the template. The error message says something like: this
application has chosen to terminate in an unusual way. After that, there is
a long, long, long time taken up by a program (forget the name now -- maybe
svchost.exe) that is writing to an error log. When I next start Word, the
documents that saved in Word are not listed on the Recent Documents list.
I found a document yesterday on support.microsoft.com that gave some
recommendations -- but now I cannot find the article. I tried one
suggestion: doing a "repair" reinstallation of Office XP. That solved the
problem for exactly one time of starting Word.
Can someone help me?
