I don't know if this is a good ng to post this problem, but I'm
posting it here at the suggestion of someone in comp.text.pdf
One of my web site clients is our local school district. Quite a few
pages on the web site are .pdf files I've converted from Word docs
provided by the district. All previous files have converted with no
problem and appear in .pdf just as they do in Word.
The most recent project for the district is a student guidebook. It
was created in Word by the guidance dept. and sent to me in separate
files that break down just like they are in the Table of Contents.
Most files are 2-3 pages, the largest is 16 pages.
Before converting to .pdf I view the files in Word and all looks fine.
However, after converting to .pdf I'm finding that clip art graphics
are either resized and/or moved enough to cover up text.
As suggested in comp.text.pdf I've installed several different
postscript printer drivers, (including Apple Color LaserWriter) used
that driver to print the Word doc to file, then dragged it into the
Adobe Distiller. The resulting .pdf file still has moved/resized
graphics that still cover up text.
I'm using Word 2000, Adobe 5.0 and viewing the results in Reader 5.1.
I don't know what version of Word these files were created in, but I
suspect an older version. The software/hardware used throughout the
district varies from prehistoric to the most up-to-date.
If anyone here can offer any suggestions I would really appreciate it.
I'm tearing my hair out over this, and this guidebook is only the
first of several large book type documents the district wants on the
web site in the next few months.
Thank you!
Leslie
