Word typing by itself

Word 2003 is typing on it's own. I will start typing and a few seconds after
I start, it begins to type random lines on it's own which are just sections
of a sentence. Is there any particular solution that anyone can think of to
solve this issue.

Do you have any sort of dictation or speech-to-text program running in the
background? If so, shut it off.

People have reported this behavior even when the microphone is switched off; the
software apparently can be triggered by random electrical signals in the audio
card.
