Word "vanishes"

This happens from time to time with all my Office programs. When maximized
it fills the screen as it should. However when restored to partial screen it
vanishes. If I press Alt+Space the system menu displays at the top left of
the screen but the size and move commands do not seem to work. I think this
is connected with using Remote Desktop, but I do not know how to fix it.

You're one third of the way there. Once you press Alt + Space to
display the menu and select "Move", you need to press an arrow key on
your keyboard to 'lock in' the Move command then you can use your
mouse to drag the window back into view.
