Word Wiil Not Open

I use Word 2000 as my email editor. Sometimes when I
reply to a message Word hangs and will not open. Outlook
freezes and I have to use Task Mgr to shut everything
down.

I can fix it by deselecting Word as an editor and then
reselecting it. Every thing is fine for a few days then
Word hangs again.

I have a friend who is also having the same problem. It
has only started to occur in the last week or so.

Is there a problem with an XP patch??
