Word will not boot

Every time I try to launch Word it freeze up my system.
The same thing happens when I try to open an existing Word
document. Here is the kicker. I can press Control-Alt-
Delete and I will get a message saying the system is
dangerously low on resources. I have deleted and
reinstalled Word numerous times and even installed mroe
memory. All other programs run perfectly fine. I can even
run multiple Excel files. Help please.
