Word Will Not Mailmerge with Outlook

P

Patrick

I am unable to mail merge from Word. In Word, I select all the usual
MailMerge Wizard Options for Christmas Card labels. I then select an Outlook
Folder containing source contacts - and then Word Pops up with a Dialogue Box
"Operation cannot be completed because of dialogue or database failures.
Please try again later" . Occasionally, I get a Dialogue to pick a database
and record user is, password etc when I should get a dialog to select an
Outlook folder.

I have checked Outlook and I don't think the problem is at that end.
Outlook is set as the default mail application and the address book folders
are configured correctly. I have tried compacting too. The versions match
and are part of Office 2003. I have also tried turning off antivirus software
without success.

I think its possible that ActiveSynch might somehow be involved...recently
it has stopped updating Outlook on my IPAQ for no apparent reason ...and the
last time that happened, I had to rebuild the PC because the registry was
damaged which I wish to avoid.

Any suggestions on how to proceed ?

Although I have no experience with this, other Word MVPs frequently advise
that for merges from Outlook, you get better results if you start the merge
in Outlook.
