word will not open (help!!!)

Any one can help with the following error?

Word 2000 will not launch and the computer freezes when
the Word icon is double-clicked and when the program is
selected from the program menu. After pressing <ctl-alt-
del> to close the program, a message is displayed
indicating Winword cannot open because there are
insufficient computer resources; however, no other
programs are running (besides system programs). Once
closed, the same error is displayed when attempting to
open any other program. After restarting, all other
programs operate normally, except Word has the same
problem.
