word will not run on one user on my pc since xp update

Since XP did an automatic update that cannot be undone Word will not run on
my default user. I did get it to run by setting up another user (also set up
as an administrator). I keep getting the message 'Word has not been installed
for the current user, please run setup'.
I have tried reinstalling, uninstalling, reinstalling, upgrading to Word
2003 but no joy. It is getting irritating having to keep switching users. Any
suggestions ?

this problem seems to be pooping up everywhere now. check my post called
"Fixed!!" a few lines down.
