word won't execute

when I try to run word 2000, I get the following:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Program:C\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT OFFICE\OFFICE\WINWORD.EXE
ABNORMAL PROGRAM TERMINATION

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Word. Problem still
exists. What now?
