Hello
I use the Normal.dot template for most simple articles,
customised with one heading and body text - all very
ordinary and unchanged for months. When I want to rename
and SAVE AS and go to drop-down menu FILE >SAVE AS, the
only option now (apart from fast save) is SAVE AS WEB
PAGE. Previously it was SAVE AS and the default setting in
Options was (and remains) save as .doc file. Now the menu
box with the 'where do you want to put the file and what
type of file do you want to save as' has default 'Web Page
(*.htm; *.html) and while it is no big deal to select .doc
instead, it is a bit irritating and needs a couple more
steps.
No recent changes to settings. I have gone to XP Restore
point from much earlier than date when the problem came
up. Have done defrag, VET, reloaded Word, downloaded
latest Office 2000 updates, cleared temp files and
cookies. Should I (don't really want to, but. . .) reload
Windows XP?
any ideas?
