Word won't start

Hello,
I have recently installed Office 2003 on an P3 maching
running XP Pro. All the other apps run fine, but Word
will NOT start. The flash screen appears and then
disappears and nothing happens. I checked and it shows
nothing is running when I look in task manager or
processes. So hen I click Word again and get a message
that since Word didn't start correctly before, do I want
to start it in safe mode. I say yes, but again nothing
happens. I have removed and reinstalled Office and
repaired it several times. I have also recently
installed McAfee, found and elimiated several viruses
including Netsky.

Now I am completely at a loss. Any suggestions?
