Word X, Endote 7 and OS X 10.3.2 Update problems

Just to alert folks, the combination of these three programs is lethal
at the momement. I cannot add text in existing word files with
endnote references, when I try to add text between the end of the
narrative and the beginning of references. I cannot make an annotated
bibliography now either inside word. All this has happened since the
10.3.2 udate.

I run a G5 2mhz, with 1.5 gigs that came with Panther installed.

If you are in the middle of grants or a big writing project DON"T
UPGRADE to 10.3.2 until this thing gets fixed.

Hi Dennis,

Have you installed the Office updates from Microsoft's web site? The
ones you need are
10.1.2
10.1.4
10.1.5
(You can skip 10.1.3)
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx#OfficeX

After you install any major updates, such as those above or any
operating system update such as OSX 10.3.2 you should run Disk Utility
First Aid and repair permissions.

After you have done all of the above please post a follow-up message in
this same subject thread to let us (the entire rest of the world) know
whether or not Word is working properly for you.

Thanks.

I updated from OS X 10.3.1 to 10.3.2 and it was horrible. There's bugs
all over the place. I'm constantly running into Permissions issues
with file sharing (folders magically set their own permissions
randomly), Quark v6 went from being able to Export to PDF in 10.3.1 to
being incapable of PDFing in 10.3.2, and even stupid little bugs like
adding a connected server to the dock not always working when it
should.

I'm even encountering problems copying files to a SNAP server for
backup because their file names are too long. Um... hello??? The
filename isn't too long in the Mac OS, the filename isn't too long for
a Windows OS... so why is a SNAP server having problems with it? SNAP
servers are made for BOTH PLATFORMS!!!

Am I the only one who thinks OS X is still not all it's cracked up to
be? After 3 years of release, I can't believe this OS still has such
instability issues. Apple, you piss me off!!! Your computers cost too
much for crap like this. I expect more from you.

Wow! I find that usually users create these situations for themselves by
taking shortcuts on install, uninstall and upgrade activities. I have been
an OS X user for 2 years (actually I have NEVER used OS 9 or earlier) and I
find the OS to be rock solid, well integrated and with ever increasing
utility as more and more software becomes available.

One suggestion--try backing up all your data and rebuilding your system from
scratch, systematically following all installation and update procedures
without using any shortcuts that you may think are OK. I think you will
find a great OS on your system as a result and certainly more reliable than
Windows and certainly more usable than Linux.

Good Luck.
