word X quits uneexpectedly in Panther 10.3.2

I upgraded from os 10.2.8 to panther, 10.3.2, a few weeks ago. Now,
about once every couple of days, Word X quits unexpectedly. This never
happened before. Any idea how to fix this? I'm having to save every
couple of sentences in order not to risk losing work. what a pain.

Make sure you've applied the latest Office updates. If not, download and
install the latest Office X updates, which are 10.1.2, 10.1.4, and 10.1.5
(10.1.3 is unnecessary). They¹re available from Microsoft.

Try repairing permissions.
For OS 10.2/10.3:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".

Run Disk First Aid. Instructions on how to run it in OS X are located on
the Apple Knowledge Base.

Under the Save pane of Word -> Preferences, make sure the option to "Allow
Fast Saves" is turned off.
