Word XML save as text

When I have an XML file with text boxes/auto hyphenation and I am saving it
as text, it preserves the hyphens.

If I record this as a macro and I run it from the XML document it works.
If I create a second macro that loads the XML file and saves it out by
calling the previous working macro, it fails to work. It saves the file, but
does not preserve hyphenation.

Am I doing something incorrectly?
