Word XP does not respond to one particular document

When I open one particular document in Windows XP, the icon becomes a "flying window" and Word (2003) does not respond. This applies to all previous drafts of the document on my hard drive, and from a floppy. Interestingly, I have no difficuly using or editing the document at work (Word 2000), and my colleagues across the country have had no difficulty with it emailed to them. I have emailed to myself from work to home, saved it to a floppy from work, and even attempted to edit it remotely from home via my work server, with the same problem. All other Word docs on my hard drive, floppies and from work open and operate just fine.

Is the problem with my file? computer (IBM laptop)? karma? I have a deadline and do not want to re-create a 16 page document.

Open Word use File, Open, select the document and use Open & Repair (by
clicking on the Down Arrow alongside the Open button and choosing the Open &
Repair option).

Thank you! This worked to recover the document with the exception of references that were put in by a colleague, I'm guessing from a software package such as ProCite. Will I encounter similar difficulties if I cut & paste these references from the document that I can open when I get back to the office?

Detect & Repair should have removed the corruption from the document and it
should be stable again. However, I have no experience with ProCite so I
suggest that you make a copy of the document before trying to insert the
references - just in case!
