Word XP will not print past page 115 of 145 pages.

Office XP SP2 in WinXP SP1, I am printing to a HP 4000, color 4500n, and
minolta copier. I have tried PCL6 and PS drivers
I have a single document with 145 pages. This document was pieced togethor
from many other documents. Essentially it is a bunch of forms sent to
people, filled out, returned and then merged into one big document.

When I click print everything up to page 115 prints fine. After page 115
they dissappear into cyberspace. No errors, no stuck print jobs, no nothing.
It acts as if it completed normally.

If I print pages 115-xxx (does not matter what pages is in xxx as long as it
is >115), then you will see the doument spool off to the printer, the
printer status box will show it for about 3 seconds and then it goes away as
if it never existed. The printer control panel looks as if it never
received a print job. No lights, no printing mesages, no errors.

If I print each page above 115 as a single individual page, they will
print fine.

I have tried the open and repair option and it had no effect.
This problem occurs on no other documents, including last years version of
this one. Last years was used as a template.

I have to print and collate 40 copies of this. I really DO NOT want to do 30
pages , 40 times, as individual pages and then hand collate them. Any
suggestions? Tomorrow I will try using the page number section number
(p115s1-p145s1) I noticed in another post. I would much rather send it to
my fancy new minolta copier/ network printer

If you Print and All is selected under page Range, then using p11s3 is
irrelevant. From your description, it would seem that you have a corruption
at around p115 or p116.

Any ideas how to fix it? The built in open and repair does not help, and
most aftermarket ones I have seen are designed to fix problems with opening
the document.

About the only option in XP would be to use simple detective work. Create a
second copy of the document (use File, SaveAs and give it a new name). Then
open the document, GoTo page 114 and then use Ctrl+Shift+Home (to select all
pages up to p114) and delete them. Try printing it: if it fails continue:

save a new copy of this document, open it and GoTo page 117 or 188 (now
pages 3 or 4) and enter Ctl+Shft+End and press delete. Theoretically, one of
the pages remaining should have the corruption. Try printing it.

Continue that way until you have detected which page is corrupted and
recreate it.

Well the alternative is to buy Word 2003 and use the Open & Repair option.
Word will fix the error and tell you what the error is.

: I was REALLLLLLLY trying to avoid that route! C'est La Vie
