Word XP

I need help for one of our clients.

They are paralegals that were on WordPerfect 8 and are now using Word XP.
In WordPerfect they could setup the page so as they typed it would auto
format as shown below.

I'm not sure how to setup Word XP to do this and any help or links would be
appreciated.

A. 233 This is one block of text that would wrap around
to here for each paragraph.

B. 426 As you can see from this example each line begins with a letter
then the next tab over is a number that is not necessarily
in order
followed by another tab that consists of the text.

Assuming the numbering (both letter and number) will be typed in manually
(the only sane way to attempt it), set up the paragraph with a hanging
indent where you want the runover text to align. There should be a default
tab stop (it may be displayed but will usually at least be implied) where
the hanging indent is, and you will need to set another one where you want
the number (to the left of the hanging indent). So the client would:

1. Type the letter and press Tab.

2. Type the number and press Tab.

3. Type the paragraph text continuously; it will wrap to align with the
beginning of the text on the first line.

What kind of tab stop you set for the number will depend on whether you want
it left- or right-aligned.

It would be possible to set this up so that the A, B, C numbering is
automatic and the numbers are manual. To do this, in the Customize Numbered
List dialog, set the "Indent at" to where you want the text to wrap and the
"Tab space after" to where you want the number. The A, B, C would be applied
automatically, leaving the insertion point ready for typing the number,
after which you would tab to the indent tab stop to start typing the text.
