I have characters in word that look like this well not exactly these
characters because i could not copy and past them but you get the point you
can not read these ▄Lφ↨¬₧°╥ñ¥ and on another computer the same file those
characters show up readable like it should. it there an option or something
that i am missing. I have word 2002

Assuming you are looking at a document that someone else created, ask them
which font they are using.
