Word2

Hi,

I'm using W2K Pro with Office 2002 and Publisher 2000. I'm trying to import
text from a
Word document and Publisher is telling me I need more memory, I've got 256MB
of memory
and I'm only using 128MB according to Task Manager. It's only 20kb as well.
I've also uninstalled the anit-virus program due to someone suggesting it
being
scripting errors.

Any other thoughts would be appreicated,

Craig

I think your best solution would be to copy the text from Word and pasting it into
Publisher. The Knowledge Base suggests that the error you receive is from Norton's
script blocking. If you have turned it off then trying to import a Word document is
not going to work for you.

Thanks Mary for your consistant help, I'am using Trend Micro and I contacted
them
and they said they haven't had any issues, also I've got 3 other users with
the same setup
as this w/s (identical) and they are working fine actually they have been
working fine. And I even went a step futher to uninstall Trend and it still
didn't work for me.

Hi,
I open up Publisher then I open an existing document and clicking in a box
that I want the text to go into,
then I go to the toolbar and click insert Text file, then that's when I
receive the error.

Hi Craig,
I did sift through a bunch of documents at the Trend Micro web site. I hate it when
1300 documents are available with my keywords. Did find this:
Microsoft Office Macros Blocking is an option... I assume it is the same as script
blocking.
Are all your user's using the same printer? Have you tried this operation in safe
mode? Printer drivers can cause "low memory" errors.
Does the Word document have autoshapes? Publisher cannot interpret these shapes
because they are only compatible with earlier versions of Word.
Save the Word document as a .rtf file and import it.

Hey Mary,
I went into safe mode and the problem still occurred, this w/s is using a
different printer than the rest. It's just
text there are no shapes of any kind, and I tried the .rtf and I still
received the same error. Once again this is
with no anti-virus on the w/s.
Thanks agian,
Craig

The best suggestion was made earlier, copy and paste. If there is a lot of text link
two text boxes in Publisher, Publisher will ask if you want to add more pages and
more text boxes.

So work around it, don't fix it? I'd like to allow the user to use the
program the way
they want to and the way the program was made to use. The other thing is
I'm on
a pretty large network here and it's my job to fix things and keep things
the way the
users want them. What do I tell the user? I don't know what happened and I
can't
fix it? I'm not doing my job then. That's one of the reasons why I
purchased technet support
to get fixes for things not work arounds. I hope I don't sound rude I'm not
trying to be
but I have a user who use to be able to do something with a program now they
can't and
I can't fix it and I have to tell them I don't know why it's doing that. I
would feel rather
inadequate in my position.
I appreciate all the help but I guess my only option is to reinstall the OS
then?

Thanks Craig
