Word2000 crashes opening doc

My Word2k crashes if I try to launch it by double-clicking on a particular
Word doc in the File Manager. But if Word is already running, I can
successfully open the doc in question either by using the File | Open menu,
or by double-clicking on that same Word doc in the File Manager.

It only seems to crash with one particular Word doc, which I am told was
created with Word for the Mac.

I have a work-around (open Word first), so I guess I won't worry too much if
there's not a fix...

I would try saving that document in RTF or plain text format then opening in
Word.
