Word2000, screen resolution problem

A

When ever I open Word2000 my computer screen resolution
changes to 600x800 resolution. (Everything gets really,
really BIG.) I can't figure out why it does this and
can't find any setting that I can change to stop it.

To use Word I have to open it, let it do it's weird
thing, then go to the control panel and change the screen
res. back to my uaual setting (1280x1024).

After that it seems to operate normally.

I've uninstalled and re-installed with no change.

I have a bad habit of typing too fast for my own good and
I occasionally hit the CTRL key when I mean to
hit 'Shift' as you can imagine this causes all kinds of
interesting things to happen when I'm in the midst of
typing an important document. Did I change some setting
somewhere and told the program to do this?

Where can I find a comprehensive list of CTRL commands?
(I know all the easy ones.)

Any ideas? I'm lost.
My OS is XP if that helps any.

Thanks!
