Word2003 as editor in Outlook2003 greyed out

The ability to use Word2003 as editor in Outlook2003 has suddenly been greyed
out. This seems a general problem as it has been posted at

So what happened since "suddenly"? Any details you'd like to share?

That post is not related as it discusses a combination of Office XP with

I did not do anything, just logged on this morning and my settings had changed.
