Word2003 will only start in safe mode.

Just recently Word2003 refuses to start and gives an error
message which I send off to Microsoft as requested.

Then it gives me the option of starting in safe mode, which
I do.

What will cause this problem, and will Microsoft contact me
with a solution?

Thank you. I renamed the Normal.dot to Normal.old and this
has fixed it so far.
