Word97 Print Problem

Installed a new HP Deskjet. When I try to print from the FILE-PRINT
command I get a Microsoft error message saying it has to close the
program and would I like to send the error message to Microsoft. I can
print what is on-screen, a .doc file, by using the printer icon on the
tool bar. But this option does not allow me to print, for instance,
specific pages from a document or what I wish to highlight as a
selection. HP technical help says this is a Word problem. I am using
Word97. Anyone have any experience with this and a fix? Thanks.

It might be time to upgrade from Word97. Have you tried making a PDF and
printing specific pages from that? If you can, then this is probably a
Word97 bug. Your problem sounds similar to this known bug:

I 'fixed' the problem once by uninstalling and reinstalling the HP software,
but it came back. I did the same and installed the newest HP driver and so
far, so good. I wouldn't be surprised if the problem returned. However, I do
have access to Word2002 and may upgrade to that. What's your opinion of the
2002 version?
